Organic factory consecrated by Abbot Dom Bernardus Biomakerij Winner of Circular Award 2019
At our abbey ‘Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot, the first biomakerij in the Netherlands was recently consecrated by abbot Dom Bernardus.
The biomakerij is an ecological water treatment plant and purifies the wastewater of the abbey through the interaction that micro-organisms in the waste water enter into with micro-organisms on the roots of plants that form part of the treatment plant.
